Coming Home (1978) - with Dr. Josh McConkey
Greetings! In this week's episode of Stamper Cinema, we're heading back to 1978 for Hal Ashby's powerful Vietnam drama Coming Home.
Starring Jane Fonda, Jon Voight and Bruce Dern, the film follows Sally Hyde, a Marine officer's wife who volunteers at a veterans hospital while her husband is serving in Vietnam. There she meets Luke Martin, a wounded and paralyzed veteran whose experience begins to challenge everything Sally thought she understood about the war, and about her own life.
Coming Home earned eight Academy Award nominations and won three, including Best Actor for Jon Voight, Best Actress for Jane Fonda and Best Original Screenplay.
Joining in for this conversation is author (among many other things) Dr. Josh McConkey. With Josh's extensive experience in both the military as well as medicine, we're taking a look at Coming Home from both a cinematic and human perspective.
I'm so proud of this one. Please enjoy!
